More Bee Stuff

I've been taking lots of pictures as the colony in Hive #1 continue to thrive - this is actually the July update... I'll put up the earlier ones as soon as I find/download the pictures.  Not sure where they are or on what camera.  * Sigh *  CRS... what can I say?

These were all taken just before dusk on 24 July

Hive #2 in foreground.  The Nuc that was installed bailed so this is ready for a split or swarm

You can see they ladies have built all the way across the hive now

This is from the "back" of the hive with only 10 bars left to go.

Same end, better light

These appear to be honey storage

ANTS!!

Girls coming out for a look from the "front" of the hive.  They are much closer to filling the last few bars in the front.

Carniolan worker (left) and Drone.
What a difference!

Propolis

Pretty little worker and propolis

Leading frame from the "front" of the hive.  They are building this end really, really crooked.  I should have intervened MUCH earlier.  The next update will show what happened when I made the attempt on the 28th.

Pretty girls coming up for a look to see what I'm doing.

"Back" of the hive again.  These combs are not as crooked as the front, but still cover two or more bars each.  Darn!

Beautiful comb!  This photo really shows the progression of the comb building.

Front view taken from the lower entrance.  Bees in the foreground are guard bees.

Another view of the guard bees at the lower entrance.

Guard bees at the top entrance

Front hive view through bottom entrance (which is actually the clean out door)

Propolis filling the gap between bars

Comb edges viewed through window.  The yellowish spots are full pollen baskets

"Pass through" for transit around completed comb
